Staff
Bryce Hales — Pastor
Bryce grew up in Laguna Beach and has spent most of his life on the coast of California. He graduated from Westmont College, received his M.Div. from The University of Glasgow in Scotland, and is currently completing doctoral studies at Covenant Theological Seminary. He’s been a pastor since 2006 and has served in college ministry and church planting contexts in California, Utah and Colorado. Bryce and his wife, Ashley, have three boys, Ezra, Porter and Camden, and a daughter, Harriet. He loves to meet with people over a craft brew and is on a mission to find the best guacamole in San Luis Obispo.
Matt Wiens — Worship Co-Director
Matt moved from the Bay Area to SLO in 2006 to attend Cal Poly. After a few visits to Trinity with some friends, he put his love of percussion to work in Trinity's music ministry and has been involved ever since. Matt and his wife, Anna, live in Atascadero and together they enjoy their garden, chickens, and crazy dog, Willa. Matt is obsessed with wood-fired pizzas and sometimes lays awake at night thinking of different topping combinations.
Emily Slater — Children’s Ministry Director
Emily grew up on the Oregon Coast but has called the Central California Coast her home for the last 20-plus years. She came to Trinity with a friend and never left. She helped kick-start the children's ministry in a tiny room at the Odd Fellows Hall and now shepherds a dynamic group of volunteers who all have a heart for Trinity's kids. Emily and her husband, Tom, have two kids, Owen and Charlotte. She has turned them all into Dodger fans.
Bret Rooks — Worship Co-Director
Bret came to Trinity at a friend's recommendation and joined soon thereafter. He leads Trinity's music/worship team and facilitates a small group Bible study. He and his wife, Andrea, have two daughters, Natalie and Naomi.
Alayna Dewlen — Ministry Assistant
Alayna lives in the great Pacific Northwest where she has been working as a virtual assistant since 2012. She loves using her administrative gifts to serve and support others. Alayna and her husband, Jamison have 3 children, Josiah, Judah and Adeline. As a homeschool family, their lives are filled with many fun and interesting activities.

Mark Fletcher
Mark was born and raised in California. He and his wife, Rebecca, met while attending Cal Poly, and married in 1984. Mark and Rebecca have two children, Westley and Carley. He has served Trinity Church as a ruling elder since 1997.

The Mercy Team
The Mercy Team provides tangible care for church members and our neighbors in SLO. They’re the hands and feet of Trinity’s generosity as they work to support local organizations and care.

Gail Westberg
Gail and her husband Dennis have been married over 45 years and have 5 children and 5 grandchildren. She is now retired but professionally she worked as the Creative Manager for a local marketing company. She loves being a grandma, and is blessed to be a part of the Mercy Team and Prayer Team at Trinity. She also enjoys reading, gardening and hiking the local trails.
Jim Jeffrey
Jim and his wife Donna have been married for 41 years. They have 5 adult children and 23 grandchildren. They have lived in San Luis Obispo for over 30 years, and have been at Trinity for over 7 years. He is a retired hospital pharmacist, having worked at both French and Sierra Vista Hospitals in San Luis Obispo. Jim is an avid sports fan, and enjoys photography and genealogical research.
Cal Stevens
Cal recently retired from teaching Management, HR, and Organizational Development at Cal Poly’s Orfalea College of Business, and he continues to do some consulting locally. Before Cal Poly, he worked for Intel Corporation and also has a ministry background. Cal and Nancy moved to SLO in 2014, and their three kids (and three grandkids) all live locally. They’ve attended Trinity for several years.
Lindsay Lange
Lindsay and her husband, David, met at Cal Poly SLO and have been married for 15 years. They have 3 young boys who keep them busy and entertained. Lindsay has a background in global health, and currently works for World Vision International on their clean water programs. In her (rare) free time, she loves cooking, reading, and exploring the Central Coast.
