Give

Grace, given back.

Giving to Trinity

Our generosity to others and the church is inseparably linked to God's generous grace to us. In 2 Corinthians 8, Paul reminds us of "the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich." In this spirit, we invite you to partner financially with us as we respond to the grace of the gospel.

Thank you for partnering with Trinity as we join God in his mission to love San Luis Obispo.

A practical note

Recurring ACH giving through our website is the most cost-effective way to give. Card processing costs Trinity 2.15% + 30¢ per gift. If every card gift became an ACH gift, we could double our children's ministry budget.

Questions

Why do we give?

The Bible teaches that God is the owner of everything and the giver of all good gifts, including our money and possessions. Jesus taught that what we do with our money reveals what is in our hearts (Matthew 6:21), and Paul instructs us to give cheerfully, sacrificially, and regularly (2 Corinthians 9:6–7). When we give, we give back to God what he already owns. Giving is an active expression of faith: it recognizes God as our true provider, affirms our trust in him, and lets us partner in his work through our church and in the world.

Does it matter how I give?

Our preferred method is a recurring ACH gift set up through our website, regular, secure, and it avoids significant fees. Many banks can also send recurring checks automatically. Card gifts are always welcome, but each one costs Trinity 2.15% + $0.30 in processing.

Does it matter when I give?

Regular giving gives Trinity a steady foundation for ministry all year long. Like most churches, a significant portion of our annual support arrives in December, but monthly giving is what lets us be a generous church in every season.

How does year-end giving work?

For gifts to count toward the current tax year:

Cash or check: received at the church or postmarked by December 31.

Online gifts: allow at least two days' processing; bank (ACH) gifts process on the next banking day, and weekends and holidays add time.

Securities: appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual funds can carry tax advantages but need extra lead time. Contact office@trinityslo.org and we'll walk you through it.

Charitable IRA rollover: donors 70½ or older can give directly from an IRA, excluded from income and counting toward the required minimum distribution. Transfers must go directly from your IRA provider to Trinity; consult your tax advisor for your situation.

What is the advantage of online giving?

Consistency. It keeps giving a planned priority rather than a remembered errand, expedites your gift, simplifies our accounting, and strengthens the regular support our ministries are built on.

Is online giving secure?

Yes, and less risky than a paper check, which can be lost, stolen, or destroyed in the mail. Online gifts are processed with a very high rate of accuracy.

What if I change my mind?

You can cancel or change online giving at any time.
